Job Title: Product Line Manager, Solar
Reporting to: VP Product Management
Position Location: Phoenix, AZ (hybrid and remote options available)
To help us continue expanding our offerings, we’re in search of an experienced Product Line Manager to collaborate and lead project teams to innovate and introduce winning intelligent motion solutions for the utility and commercial solar market. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the utility scale and commercial solar industry, a keen eye for gaps in competitive product offerings and an innovative mindset for filling them. This person should be a highly skilled market analyst with a proven ability to strategize the full lifecycle from concept to introduction to end of-life. We’re looking for a confident, “roll-up-the-sleeves” product management leader who can guide cross-functional teams in the creation of products and portfolios that improve customer experience and grow profitable market share.
Objectives of this role
– Capture and analyze customer insights, market trends, and potential partnership opportunities from an ROI and build-vs.-buy perspective.
– Assess competitive offerings and seek opportunities for differentiation.
– Develop both the minimum and ideal product requirements for success.
– Evaluate new product ideas and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans.
– Develop, implement, and maintain development timelines across multiple teams.
– Drive the new Product Development Innovation and Introduction (NPDI) process with cross-functional teams for Kinematics’ solar products portfolio.
Essential Functions:
– Conduct market research and analysis to identify customer needs and preferences and develop strategies to meet those needs.
– Develop and manage the solar product roadmap, ensuring that it aligns with company objectives and supports business growth.
– Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, marketing, and operations, to develop and launch new products and features.
– Based on customer and market insights, define, and manage product requirements and specifications.
– Drive the New Product Development and Introduction process (NPDI), from concept to end of life.
– Develop pricing strategies and work with the sales team to ensure profitable product positioning in the market.
– Support content development of product marketing, training, and sales related communications and tools.
– Be a spokesperson on behalf of the Kinematics’ solar product portfolio at customer, partner, and industry events.
– Monitor product performance and customer feedback and use insights to inform product improvements and optimizations.
– Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and partners.
– Stay up to date with industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments that could impact the utility and commercial solar market.
– Support onsite customer and project engagements in support of business development and sales.
Competencies:
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, business, or a related field.
– 5+ years of product management experience in the solar industry, with a focus on utility-scale and/or C&I markets.
– Direct experience with solar tracker technology a plus.
– Self-starter that thrives in environments with high degrees of ambiguity.
– Demonstrated success in developing and launching new solar products and features.
– Experience conducting and analyzing market and VOC research.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
– Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
– Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on time and on budget.
– Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
– Strong understanding of solar technology, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
– Ability to travel both domestically and internationally approximately 20% of time.
